Electric vehicles (EVs) are becoming increasingly popular in Nepal, as they offer an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional petrol and diesel vehicles. However, one of the main concerns for EV owners is the availability of charging stations. In this article, we will explore the current state of electric vehicle charging station in Nepal.

The adoption of electric vehicles is still in its early stages in Nepal. While there is no official data on the number of electric vehicles in the country, it is estimated that 1% of people use Electric Scooter in Nepal currently. This number is expected to increase rapidly in the coming years as the government has set a target of making Nepal a fully electric vehicle country by 2030.

In order to achieve this goal, the government has implemented various policies and initiatives to promote the use of electric vehicles in the country. One of the key initiatives is the installation of electric vehicle charging stations across Nepal. As of March 2023, there are over 20 electric vehicle charging stations located in Kathmandu, Pokhara, and other major cities of Nepal. These charging stations are owned and operated by both private and government organizations.

These Level 3 charging stations are essential for long-distance travel and are located at strategic locations along major highways.
